This past Sunday marked the beginning of World Breastfeeding Week, promoted by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action. This year's theme is "Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility" and considers breastfeeding at the community level as an issue of public health. According to WABA, this year's theme "highlights the links between breastfeeding and survival, health and wellbeing for women, children and nations."
